Together for Good

Together for Good, by Melanie Dobson, is novel about adoption. There’s an adoptive mom and a birth mom. And a baby. And a sad story that Melanie tells in a beautiful way, weaving the plot, intriguing subplots, and convincing characters as she reveals little pieces of the backstory, bit by bit. I don’t want to write too much—it would be too easy to give it away—but Together for Good is well worth the read. It’s set on Puget Sound, it’s perfectly paced, and it illustrates Romans 8:28. Melanie is a great writer (and an exceptionally nice person).
Check out Melanie’s website and her blog. Let me know if you read her second novel, Going for Broke, before I do. I need to catch up on my school reading, so I may have to wait until Christmas Break... Boo hoo.
Happy reading!

Together for Good

At the same time we were trying to finalize the adoption of our oldest daughter, some close friends of ours were also adopting. A week after they welcomed their baby boy home, the birthmother showed up at their front door to say she'd changed her mind. They were devastated when they had to return their son.
What would happen to this baby? How would I respond if someone tried to take Karly from me? And how could God use this awful situation for good? I sat down and began writing Together for Good.
Fortunately, we celebrated the finalization of Karly's adoption over two years ago, and our friends received another precious boy. While their pain birthed the idea, it was their faith that inspired this story of a woman's search for her son.
Thanks so much for your kinds words, Leslie! I'm honored that you enjoyed Together for Good. It's the story of my heart, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share it.
God bless you and your writing!
